Staycation in Review: At the Fill

Naturally I went to the Fill several times during my Staycation, although it is sparse there bird-wise at this time of year.  Mostly finches and sparrows and wrens and robins and a few blackbirds and a handful of swallows with the occasional duck or heron.

Truman and I explored Lily Pad Cove one morning, and he had to hop over a log.  He was very proud of his log-conquering achievement.

The lily pads are quite dense at this time of  year.

Then we tootled on over to the Main Pond, where we were entertained by a goldfinch flock foraging on the muddy shore, and flitting about:

One thing we did not see was Connie Who Practically Lives There, who has not been to the Fill, for one reason or another, since July 4!  I have been in communication with her about this lapse, and hope to get her back to the Fill soon, or otherwise she will have to turn in her resident's card.  It's not the same place without her!

  1. I like the 2nd bird photo wherein the little guy (gal?) is looking right at the camera as if to say, "What's up?" Cute.
Hope Connie's is off doing something super fun and will be back to the Fill soon. I had noticed that you haven't mentioned her for awhile. Hope all is OK with her.
